Young Woman Arrives Home and Finds Cat Stuck in Sleeve: “New Fear Unlocked”

Berenice is a kitten who, it seems, loves to cause trouble. That’s because when her owner, psychotherapist Franciele Crepalde, briefly left, the cat decided to hide inside the sleeve of a blouse she found on the floor. When Franciele arrived and saw her, you can imagine her fright!

The white-furred cat managed to get into the blouse in such a way that only her face was visible through the hole in the sleeve. Seeing Berenice in that situation scared Franciele, but after checking that she was okay—and actually enjoying it—Franciele decided to record the moment.

The video was posted on the psychotherapist’s TikTok profile with the caption “Berenice and Her Crazy Things,” garnering over 838,000 views.

Berenice, the Cat

This little rascal is two months old and lives with her owner in Espírito Santo, Brazil. She joined the family through adoption to keep Nenego, the other cat Franciele adopted, who is only 11 months old, company.

“I don’t think Berenice would be in my life if it weren’t for Nenego,” Franciele told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news). “I was never really a big fan of cats, you know? I liked dogs more, but my husband always loved them, so I decided to adopt Nenego when he was a kitten. I simply fell in love. He is very friendly and loving, totally different from what I used to hear about cats.”

Berenice came into the family full of energy—“raising havoc, hahaha, totally different from my first kitten, who was calm from the start,” her owner said. And you can tell by the mischief she caused by hiding inside a shirt sleeve, right?

Although Berenice is more energetic than her brother, the two quickly became best friends; after just one day together, they were inseparable. They aren’t just partners in mischief, because Berenice gets into plenty of trouble all by herself, haha.

The Video Went Viral

Franciele explained that it was only Berenice’s third day at home. Even though Berenice and Nenego got along from the moment they met, the psychotherapist wouldn’t leave them alone together yet, so Berenice would go with her to the office (which is part of the house).

“I had to run some errands, so I left her sleeping in her usual spot. I had removed the bedsheets to wash them and hadn’t put clean ones on yet, and a shirt was left there. I went to the grocery store and when I got back, just 20 minutes later, she was curled up inside the sleeve of the shirt, sleeping and purring,” she recalled.

Finding the situation funny, Franciele decided to film it.

“Before recording, I made sure everything was okay, and when I saw she was enjoying being bundled up, I had to film it to show my husband. It was so cute that I also posted it on social media, and it ended up going viral.”

In addition to thousands of views, the post received over 164,000 reactions and hundreds of funny comments.

“Berenice was very comfortable,” commented an internet user, laughing.

“I’m tired of being a cat, Karen. Now I’m a worm,” joked another.

“Karen, it took a lot of work to get in here. Put me back now!” imagined a third.
