“Super Calm!”: Woman’s Dog Introduction Goes Hilariously Off the Rails

“Who has a calm pet like mine? Raise your hand!” That’s what Dayse Brito, from Recife, Brazil, asked internet users while introducing (or rather, trying to introduce) Scooby, her four-year-old Dachshund.

In 2021, Dayse shared a hilarious video of her dog on her profile @dayse.britto. Then, on May 4, 2023, she reposted it as part of TikTok Promote—a campaign that encourages creators to share content, either their own or someone else’s, for a chance to win an iPhone 14.

In the video, Dayse is seen sitting on the floor, trying to introduce her puppy. But Scooby doesn’t sit still—he’s darting around like a rocket.

When she finally catches him mid-jump, she grabs him, turns him toward the camera, and says, “This is my puppy, and he’s super calm.” The moment she finishes her sentence, what does he do? He growls and pops up like a piece of popcorn. Calm? Not so much. Hahahaha.

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), Dayse recounted how the pet came into the family’s life. It was her mother’s birthday, and her brother decided to give her the puppy as a gift to keep her company, since the family’s other dog had just passed away.

The intention was never to replace their old dog, but rather to fill the emotional void she felt.

“My mother was very sad, so on her birthday, my brother gave him to her as a gift,” she recalled. “He’s the joy of the house now.”
“I have two children—a 9-year-old who plays with him a lot, and a 15-year-old who is autistic and doesn’t play with Scooby much. He just likes to pet him, but he doesn’t really like it when Scooby barks because his (my autistic son’s) hearing is very sensitive.”

But Scooby doesn’t just play with the kids—Dayse’s dad also loves to play with him.

“Scooby is the darling of the house! My parents love him! Even my dad plays with him all the time—he plays music, dances with Scooby, and everything.”

Regarding the repercussions of the video, the woman says:

“I’m really excited to make more videos. Even people who don’t like dogs say they wish they had a Scooby to have that much energy,” she said. “This is wonderful for me—for us. My mom gets weirded out when people call Scooby ‘famous.’”

At the time, the video had reached over 7 million views, and the repost alone got 245,000 views, 43,000 reactions, and thousands of comments in just one day.

“Super calm—like he’s wired to a power line. I love Dachshunds—I’ve got two,” wrote one internet user.
“It looks like the video is sped up at 2x,” commented another.
“Nobody can stop the Flash,” declared a third.
