Dad Tears Up After Son Gifts Him the Sweetest Dachshund Puppy

Gabriel Rosa, a young man from São Paulo, Brazil, decided to give his parents a dachshund puppy—popularly known as a “wiener dog.”

However, he never imagined his father would be so moved by the gift that he’d cry.Gabriel filmed the moment and shared it on his TikTok profile (@davovis_) on May 9, leaving viewers touched by the way his parents reacted to the puppy.

In the video, the parents are seen sitting on the living room couch, gushing over the gift—which, by the way, is absolutely adorable! While Beatriz, the mother, holds the puppy, David, the father, gently pets her.

And during the moment, unable to hold back his tears, he let them flow.

Beatriz then jokes with her husband, saying, “You’re really going to cry when she starts tearing up everything in here.” After the joke, she adds, “My God, what a beautiful gift. Thank you, Gabi! She’s so beautiful.”

In the video, Beatriz reveals the puppy’s name: Maju—and says this little beauty will be very spoiled. No doubt about it!

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), Gabriel explained why he decided to give his parents a Dachshund puppy. Two years earlier, the family lost Charlotte, their 15-year-old dachshund, to cancer.

“Charlotte came home at six months old, and over time, my parents grew very attached to her—she became like a daughter to them.”

David became very attached to his previous dog. They slept in the same bed and were inseparable. When his dog passed away, he was traveling in the U.S. and didn’t get the chance to say goodbye—something that left him heartbroken. So when he saw the new puppy, he was overcome with emotion, remembering the dog he had loved so deeply.

“Her name is Maria Julieta, or Maju,” he said. “They’re completely in love with her—glued to her all the time and giving her all the attention a puppy deserves.”

The video had a huge impact. Gabriel had no idea his parents’ spontaneous reaction would resonate with so many people. “My parents are absolutely amazed—and who would have thought little Maju would already be famous?” he said.

The post reached over 245,000 views, 44,000 reactions, and thousands of comments.

“As a child, I read a poem I never forgot. It said: ‘Whoever has sensitivity and loves with emotion is sincere in the friendships they hold in their heart,’” wrote one user.
