A parrot named Frederico, who lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, loves himself like no one else and is always saying positive things about himself. He’s a true inspiration!

Charismatic, confident, and blessed with a beautiful voice, Frederico has won the hearts of over 353,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram, through the account @kriandokalo, which features him and his bird siblings.

Every day, his owner, Giselli Almeida, shares videos of this handsome bird—who proudly acknowledges his own beauty.

In a video posted on May 8, Frederico says proudly: “Fre-Fre-Frederico is so handsome and smells good. Fre-Fre-Frederico is so handsome.” It’s absolutely captivating.

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), Giselli shared a bit about this beloved bird.

“He came into our lives to bring new meaning—especially to my son’s life,” said Giselli.

At the time, her son Gabriel was going through a difficult period. Seeing him so downcast made her sad, so she had an idea: “Let’s get him a companion!”

Out of all the pets they could have chosen, they picked an Amazona aestiva parrot—one of the species most likely to talk.

They made that choice because, according to Giselli, it was exactly what the family needed at the time.

Giselli, who owns many parrots, made it clear that not all Amazona aestiva parrots will talk—only about 10% develop this ability.Frederico is part of that rare 10%.

Even before choosing from the many birds at the store, Frederico was already loved and wanted by the family.

Interestingly, it was Frederico who chose Giselli and her son as his new family—not the other way around.

“He was the only one who stared at us, clearly showing that he wanted us as his family,” she recalled.

Frederico arrived when he was just a baby, and from the start, the family would talk to him and sing songs—mainly from the band Queen, since they’re big fans of Freddie Mercury.

“Some of the songs we sang were our own, and we always praised him for being SO CUTE AND SMELLING GOOD…” she said. “It was through all that love and attention that Frederico began to learn lots of words and songs,” she added.

This cutie has been so inspired that Giselli is convinced his vocabulary is limitless—Frederico seems to come up with a new word every day. His cleverness is on full display in every video she shares.

“Several of our videos have done well on social media—especially one where Frederico praises himself and takes his self-esteem to the next level,” she said.

The post received thousands of views and comments—after all, who can resist a little creature like that hyping himself up, right?

What’s more, many people have reached out to Giselli, saying Frederico has helped them with their emotional struggles.

“Our whole family feels incredibly blessed to have him as a ‘son’—the one we longed for during such a difficult time,” she said.“I believe we’re reaping what we sowed—and we poured so much love into Frederico, the result could only be the best!”

I can’t handle this level of cuteness—he’s just too adorable!

Giselli concludes by saying:

“Frederico is legally acquired—he has an invoice from the establishment, is banded, and microchipped.”

And she adds a reminder:

“Never acquire a wild bird that hasn’t been legally sourced.”
