Expectation vs. Reality: Man Shows What His Dog, Who He Thought Would Look Like a Yorkshire Terrier, Actually Looks Like

Photographer Julio Maia, a resident of Minas Gerais, Brazil, adopted a dog named Dino. The young man believed that the pet would grow up to look like, or at least resemble, a Yorkshire Terrier.

However, as we know, time reveals the truth — and that's when Julio discovered that the dog was not what he had believed it would be.

Dino is a true mutt! If Julio wanted a pet with long, silky fur and an elegant appearance, that’s definitely not what he got!

But that’s okay — Dino may not look like a Yorkshire Terrier, but his sweet and playful personality stands out and wins the hearts of everyone who meets him.

Making fun of the situation, Julio created a video titled “How I was told Dino would look / how he really looks” and shared it on his TikTok profile.

One internet user joked, comparing the dog to a skinwalker — in Navajo culture, a type of evil witch who can transform into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal.

From that comparison, you can imagine just how unique this pet must be, right? Let’s just say he’s not one of the most traditionally beautiful dogs, but because he’s so unique, his beauty is considered exotic.

Dino’s Adoption

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Julio said that he adopted Dino thirteen years ago, after the dog’s former owner, unwilling to keep him due to his appearance, was about to “discard” him.

The woman had a female Yorkshire Terrier, who mated with a mutt, resulting in Dino — an adorable little mix.

When Julio learned about the situation, he immediately decided to adopt him, and Dino has been part of his family ever since.

"He is very kind, affectionate, adventurous, and loves to accompany me on my photo shoots," he explained.

Dino is a little warrior; in his thirteen years of life, he even overcame cancer. According to Julio, According to Julio, “Today, Dino is doing well. He’s older now and quieter, but he has always loved going out and used to run away from home often.”

Because he loves roaming the streets, the dog has become friends with everyone in the neighborhood. As his owner said: “Everyone on my street knows him.” Can you imagine the charisma of this little dog? He must be so adorable!

"He’s like a son. I think everyone who has a pet feels the same way. We get used to their personalities, right? I can’t be away from home for too long without missing them," he concluded.
