Pitbull Puppy Who Got Used to Sleeping on Her Brother Grows Up and Keeps This Habit

Hikari, the Pitbull, entered the lives of the couple, Ayumi Ikeda and Luan Marques Martis, residents of São Paulo, Brazil, when she was only 40 days old. As a puppy, who do you think she became attached to? It wasn’t either of them, but Shiro, the couple’s other Pitbull.

At the time, Shiro was just 3 years old, and Hikari found all the comfort she needed in him. In addition to receiving lots of love from her older brother, she also used him as a bed. How so?

She took the opportunity, when her brother was napping, to curl up next to him and sleep too. After all, the closer we are to those we love, the better. Isn’t that right?

Well, as time went by, the dog grew. At seven months old, she’s almost the same size as Shiro—perhaps even bigger. Guess what? She still has that same habit.

Why sleep on her own bed or the floor when she has an older brother to snuggle with?

Finding this little duo funny, Ayumi made a compilation of videos of Hikari from when she was a puppy to when she was seven months old, showing her habit of sleeping on top of her brother, and posted it on the @familiapit TikTok account on May 17. The account is dedicated to sharing the family’s routine.

“Hikari loves to sleep on, next to, or glued to Shiro. Hahaha,” Ayumi wrote in the caption of the video.

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), the owner of these cuties told us a little more about their personalities and how Shiro behaves when faced with his sister's whims.

“Shiro is very patient and loving. He lets her do whatever she wants,” Ayumi said.

It’s a good thing Shiro is patient because, according to Ayumi, Hikari is very attached. She loves being on her owner’s lap and, of course, very close to her brother. Whenever there’s a chance, she runs to lie on him. She is quite the character.

“She is affectionate and needs to be touching a member of the family at all times,” she explained. “From the beginning, she’s had this habit of lying on top of Shiro.”

About the videos posted on TikTok, Ayumi says: “My husband started posting them because he thought they were cute, and all of a sudden, they went pretty viral. We were very happy.”

The repercussions are no wonder—they are adorable! The video of Hikari sleeping on her brother has garnered over 1.9 million views, 249,000 reactions, and thousands of funny comments.

“She must be thinking, ‘My God, Shiro is shrinking!’” joked one internet user.

“She is literally made from Shiro’s ribs—even the color is the same…” joked another.

“She’s getting ready to lie on him—so cute!” commented a third.

Ayumi declares:

“Their relationship is special. They are always together and never fight. She shadows him all the time, and when we are close, they cling to us. They are the most affectionate dogs I have ever seen.”

She concludes:

“I believe it is related to their upbringing because we’ve always given them a lot of love.”

Speaking of sleeping…

Valentino is another dog who loves to sleep, but unlike Hikari, he prefers his own bed.

He likes the bed so much that he even pulls her to the bedroom because that’s the place to sleep. It was so cute to see!
