A scared caramel-colored dog? Impossible... or maybe not! Even with all the love she received from veterinarian Daniela Mol Valle, the little dog cried when she realized she needed a blood test. As the professional told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), everything went smoothly thanks to a sweet little conversation between the two!

At seven years old, Nala is a caramel-colored mixed-breed dog who is very lucky! Her owner regularly takes her for checkups and exams to make sure everything is okay with her little darling.

Still, even though she’s used to it, she never misses the chance to act cute and cry when the dreaded moment arrives.

“Nala belongs to my friend Ellen, who also has a degree in veterinary medicine. She’s already used to coming here, but this was the first time we drew blood without anyone holding her,” explained Daniela.

Even though she was a little tearful, Nala showed she trusted the vet and could handle the blood draw just fine.

So Daniela and Nala’s owner decided to record the moment to raise awareness among pet owners about the importance of preventive exams.

“We decided to record the moment right away. I have a lot of patience and a lot of love for what I do. I dedicate a lot of time during consultations to making each moment my patient spends in the office special.Over time, I’ve learned to interpret animals’ signals and to recognize when they allow a blood draw without restraint—like Nala did,” Daniela explained.

The moment, shared on TikTok, went viral and has already been viewed nearly 4 million times.

In the video, Daniela talks to Nala and explains each step of the procedure, assuring her that it will be quick. Pet lovers are delighted to see the patience and care the veterinarian shows.

“First of all, why are you crying, miss? No one is doing anything. I haven’t even started yet. I chose the smallest needle I have, so there’s no reason for you to keep crying,” Daniela says to the caramel-colored mutt.

Her Own Method—with Lots of Love!

Daniela tells Amo Meu Pet that to succeed with her patients, she prioritizes the entire experience during each consultation.

In addition to evaluating the animal’s type and personality, Daniela says it’s easier to draw blood from dogs by talking to them, while with cats it’s better to stay quiet, as silence helps them feel safe.

“I’ve been practicing for 18 years. In the beginning, I used to send patients elsewhere for lab work, but owners said it was stressful to leave and that it was better to do everything here. So I started collecting samples myself and, of course, I improved by observing colleagues, taking courses, and watching videos—eventually developing my own blood draw method.”

Another key point for the veterinarian is investing in materials that cause the least possible pain to animals.

“I buy specialized needles from top brands to minimize pain and trauma for the animals. I do everything I can to create a calm and positive environment. After all, it’s very important that people continue bringing their pets in for regular check-ups!”
