Puppy Given as a German Shepherd and Rottweiler Mix Grows Up Very Differently Than Expected—Watch
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsGuilherme Amorim, who lives in Minas Gerais, adopted a puppy he believed to be a German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix. As a puppy, she looked similar to both breeds. However, as she grew, Guilherme realized he had been “fooled.”
In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Guilherme said he met the puppy through a client at his dad’s mechanic shop in July 2022. According to the client, he was “certain” about the puppy’s lineage: the mom was a German Shepherd and the dad, a Rottweiler.
Trusting the person’s certainty, the family decided to adopt the pup and named her Mixirica—Tangerine in English. Weeks went by, and naturally, they expected her to grow—given her supposed background. But surprise! The opposite happened—she just didn’t seem to grow at all. Wait… what’s going on here? Haha!

"We started to suspect she might be a true Brazilian mutt,” Guilherme said, laughing. “Then one day, the vet who looks after our pups examined her and said she wouldn’t grow much—she’d stay short and stocky. And sure enough, that’s exactly what happened.”
Despite the surprise, the family wasn’t disappointed. As Guilherme explained: “We didn’t care about the breed or anything like that. All the dogs at our shop are mutts, and they’re adorable. We couldn’t dream of having dogs as loving and funny as they are.”
Here’s a fun fact about this cutie: “Coincidentally, we found out she loves tangerines—so her name totally fits her!”
Guilherme, amused by how things turned out, made a video showing expectations vs. reality.
He shared the video on Instagram, where it racked up over 681,000 views.
“She exceeded expectations!” declared one user.
“Way more beautiful and friendly,” added another.
“She just needs a few months at the gym,” joked a third.

Guilherme ends the interview saying: “We love her so much—and the other dogs have grown to love her too. They spend the whole day together. Even though she’s a puppy among adult and senior dogs, she’s completely changed their routine.”
