After 10 Years, Owner Shows What Her Little Dachshund Who Loves Hugs Is Like Now
“When you hug or pet her, she runs, extremely happy, as if she had won the lottery.”
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsNetinha is an adorable 15-year-old Dachshund (the famous wiener dog). The dog likes hugs so much that she sits on her back legs and raises her paws to ask for affection.
She’s had this habit since she was a puppy, and Larissa—who finds it adorable—recorded a video of her in 2012 (when she was five) and another in 2023.
Ten years separate the two videos, but her affectionate behavior hasn’t changed a bit!
In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Larissa said that she has an immense love for this breed and has had an incredible 16 dachshunds.
Lilica was one of the wiener dogs she had. With caramel-colored fur, she gave birth to two puppies in January 2008: Netinha and Guga. Netinha stayed with the family, while Guga was adopted out.
“That’s why she’s called Netinha (which means ‘granddaughter’), because since Lila was my daughter, Netinha—being her daughter—became my granddaughter,” she explained.
The little dog has a habit of sitting up on her hind legs to ask for hugs—it's the cutest thing!
Larissa said she never taught her to do this. One day, the little dachshund simply sat beside her, and noticing how sweet the pose was, Larissa asked if she wanted a hug—especially since she was reaching out with her paws.
“So I got up and hugged her,” she said. “She started associating that position with getting affection, since we were always petting her.”
“She’s super affectionate! Even though she’s older, when you hug or pet her, she runs off, overjoyed—as if she just won the lottery.”

The gesture melted not only her family’s heart, but the hearts of millions online. Larissa shared the adorable moment on her TikTok (@laryun12) on August 13, where it racked up over 1.5 million views.
“She still tries to stand up for a hug. Old dogs are so sweet, my God,” commented one TikTok user.
“May she live a thousand years and a thousand more,” wished another.

Larissa ends the interview by saying, “She’s a source of joy, friendship, laughter, and love. No matter what happens, she’s always by our side. Of the 16 Dachshunds I’ve had, she’s the only one still with us.”
May this sweet girl live many more years, bringing endless joy to her family!
Are Dachshunds Affectionate?
According to Hepper, a pet furniture brand, Dachshunds are indeed known for being affectionate and loving. They usually have a strong bond with their owners and love being around them. Dachshunds tend to be loyal and loving dogs, often seeking attention and affection from their owners.
However, a dog’s temperament can vary from one to another, so some Dachshunds may be more affectionate than others. It’s always important to remember that a dog’s temperament is influenced by genetics, upbringing, socialization, and environment.
