After taking her “baby”—a petite 132-pound Pitbull—to the vet, the woman was seen crying.

The reason behind all the tears was revealed in a TikTok video that quickly went viral, amusing the internet.

To Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), the owner explained why she was so upset and how she has been following the doctor’s recommendations.

Flávia, the loving mom of seven dogs—four of them Pitbulls—recently entertained the internet by crying profusely in a viral video.

It might sound a little mean, right? But the reason for all those tears is actually kind of funny.

Thor, one of the family’s Pitbulls living in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil, went to the vet for a check-up and was found to be overweight.

The vet recommended that Flávia put him on a diet to improve his quality of life—but she wasn’t thrilled with the idea.

In the video, Flávia’s husband, who filmed the moment, shows her crying—then Thor appears, the “little” darling who needs to shed a few pounds.

“The day my wife left the vet’s office crying because the vet called our dog fat,” the video narration explained.

Poking fun at the owner’s reaction, the narration exaggerated the vet’s recommendation with a string of nicknames describing Thor’s weight.

“Apparently, the vet said: Thor is a swine, butterball, Mr. Belly, a bag of lard, tractor tire, paunchy, Nhonho, morbid mountain, Free Willy, manta ray, circus tent. Guys, no need to cry,” she joked.

Flávia confirmed to Amo Meu Pet that she is following the vet’s advice, but said the video has been misunderstood.

“Yes, they’re all on a diet because, according to the vet, they were all overweight. In the video where I’m crying, it’s because we were going to neuter Thor and Bartho—but the vet recommended they lose weight first,” she explained.

According to the vet, neutering Flávia’s pups would require a lot of anesthesia to put down the “lightweights.”

“Since it’s not an urgent surgery, we decided to postpone it,” she said.

The Diet

Flávia explained that since the appointment, all the dogs have been eating light food with their portions carefully controlled.

“Before, we used to let them eat whenever they wanted, but now they eat twice a day. We also stopped giving them snacks .I used to buy a lot and give them too many treats. Instead of processed snacks, we switched to fruits and sweet potatoes, which they really enjoy,” she said.

The Pet Family

In addition to Pitbulls Thor and Bartho, the family also includes Molly and Nina (also Pitbulls), Pingo (a Cocker Spaniel), Dudu (a Yorkshire), and Mel (a Chow Chow mix).

Speaking of Mel, she’s Thor’s best friend. The two are inseparable and do everything together, according to Flávia.

“Mel used to belong to my father, and he once tried to take her back to his house. But they were separated for a day and almost died of heartbreak. Thor wouldn’t eat or drink, and neither would Mel. They’re best friends,” Flávia explained.
