Dog Living a Double Life Goes Viral for Making Friends Wherever She Goes [Video]

A success wherever she goes, a mixed-breed dog with two names, two homes, and dozens of friends has also won over the web. In addition to strolling around her neighborhood, the little dog spends her days at a drug store and her nights at a gym in her city in Paraná, Brazil.

In a video shared on TikTok, Mel — as she’s called at the drug store — is seen sitting on a couch meant for product photos or for kids to play on.

However, the dog has claimed the furniture as her own and now spends hours each day lounging peacefully on it.

In footage shared by José Gonçalves da Silva Junior, a representative from a medical lab, Mel even strikes a pose for the camera and flashes a big, toothy smile. Looks like this beauty has taken on a side gig as an influencer!

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), he revealed that he had known the dog for a while, but never imagined the video would become such a success.

“I used to record or take photos of Mel, but I only sent them to my daughter, who loves animals and is studying to become a veterinarian. I usually go to that drug store once a week, and Mel is always there. I think she’s adorable and very sweet,” he said.

Double Life

Liliany Aquino dos Santos Julião, the owner of the drug store “Farma e Farma,” says that Mel has been a regular at the establishment for four years, but in fact, she also lives at a gym.

“Over there, she’s known as Belinha. But when she started coming here, we didn’t know that, so we called her Mel. Here, she answers to Mel, and over there she responds to Belinha. So if you call either name, she’ll answer,” Liliany explained.

According to her, Mel—or Belinha—arrives at the drugstore in the morning for breakfast, stays for a while, and then goes for a stroll.

“When I arrive to open up, she’s already there waiting for me. She comes in, has breakfast, spends some time here, and then goes for a walk.Later, she comes back, stays for a while, and that’s how her day goes. She’s a local celebrity. Wherever she goes, she gets love and food,” Liliany said.

Even with her double life, Liliany says that many people have tried to adopt Mel, but she always runs away and returns to her routine. “We send her for a bath, and later she goes out, showing off everywhere she usually hangs out.”

Over time, Mel started bringing friends to Liliany’s drugstore, and all of them are welcomed with joy, fed, and even taken for baths.

“She brought some friends, like Pretinho, who is about the same age as she is. There’s also Gambazinho, a stray whose origin is unknown. Unfortunately, we still haven’t managed to give him a bath because he’s very reactive;we believe he’s been through some hard times,” Liliany said.

As for Lua, she has her own family and home; however, she never misses a chance to go out with her best friend, Mel.

“Lua lives across from Mel’s gym home. They became friends and have spent a lot of time here ever since,” she concluded.
