Grandma Yorkshire “Meddles” in Puppy Care — Here’s What the Mother Dog Finds Out

The dogs Luna (7) and Cristal (3) are Yorkshire Terriers with a special bond — they’re mother and daughter.

However, the arrival of Cristal’s five puppies shook their once harmonious relationship. Jealousy took over Luna, and now the grandma is convinced she’s the real mother of the little ones. This unusual situation created real confusion in the dynamics of canine motherhood. Luna didn’t hesitate to interfere in Cristal’s care of the puppies — she wanted to protect and care for them so much that she even started breastfeeding them.

But Cristal found out — and she didn’t like it one bit. She went straight after her own mother. It was like something straight out of a Mexican soap opera.

The owner of this furry family is Leide Debortoli, who lives in Minas Gerais, Brazil. In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), she shared that Luna and Cristal have always gotten along well — and that the dispute over the puppies was just an isolated incident.

“It happened in the morning, and until then, there had never been any disagreement between them,” she said. “My father went to have breakfast, and Cristal left the nest to grab a snack. When I got to the living room, I saw Grandma Luna in the bed with the puppies trying to nurse.”

Amazed by Luna’s strong maternal instinct, Leide filmed the moment — but she didn’t expect mom Cristal to burst into the scene, demanding her puppies back.

Leide shared the video on her TikTok (@leidetdebortoli), where it racked up over a million views.

Don’t worry — no one was hurt during the argument. According to Leide, “Thank God it was just a scare. Even after Luna was kicked out of the nest, they went back to coexisting normally — as if nothing had happened.”

Luna and Cristal are very close, and this was Cristal’s first time giving birth. On the day Cristal gave birth, Luna was there to support her.

Leide said Grandma Luna cried all night, wanting to be close to Cristal. The family tried letting her approach — and it worked beautifully!

“Cristal let Luna stay close, so we placed her little house next to Cristal’s. They’ve maintained a good relationship ever since,” she explained. “Grandma Luna acted like the puppies’ bodyguard — barking whenever someone entered the room and keeping others from getting too close.”

The scene of Cristal defending her litter had internet users cracking up.

“Cristal came flying in like a ninja!” one user joked.
