Pitbull Flops to the Ground in Protest, Refusing to Walk — Funny Video Goes Viral
Tay just didn’t want to walk anymore!
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsTired from the walk, a young Pitbull found a way to protest. What did she do? She simply flopped on the ground and refused to get up — no amount of encouragement could change her mind. It was up to her owner to pick her up — but there was one problem: the dog is not small at all.
This cutie, Tay, lives with her owner Cyntia Fernandes in São Paulo, Brazil. Tay started her walk with Cyntia full of excitement, but halfway through, she suddenly seemed to think, “You know what? I’m done,” and refused to move.
Just imagine the scene—a “battle” between a determined owner and a stubborn little pup!
Cyntia tried everything to get her dog moving again. She walked several steps ahead, talked to her, begged—but nothing worked.
She even walked down a slope, hoping it would motivate her pit bull to follow — but it was no use. Tay just sat there, calmly watching her owner’s antics as she tried to convince her to walk.
But the ultimate act of defiance came when Cyntia, out of breath, walked all the way back to her pup — and the diva lay down on the ground as if to say, “I’m not moving unless you carry me,” hahaha.

Thinking the tantrum was funny, Cyntia recorded and shared the video on her TikTok profile (@cynfer79). The post has garnered over 755,000 views. Tay definitely got people talking!
In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about news), Cyntia said that she is a veterinarian and has always volunteered in animal shelters. She even became the vice-president of an NGO, and Tay is the result of an adoption.
“This dog came into my life through a breeding kennel that discarded her because she wasn’t able to reproduce anymore,” Cyntia told Amo Meu Pet.
Because of her past experiences, Tay faces some health challenges, including joint problems.
That’s why she receives physical therapy and rehabilitation — and, much to her dismay (laughs), walks are part of the package.
“They’re very short walks that I take her on, and her pain is fully managed. She’s no longer in pain. Today, she can walk without any trauma,” she explained.
However, despite no longer being in pain, Cyntia says Tay still has some trauma when it comes to walking. That’s because her former owner used to force her to walk. “So when I try to walk her, she puts on this act—but it’s not just an act, it’s actually past trauma—and she throws herself on the ground,” she said.
In addition to Tay, Cyntia also adopted Amarok, her brother, who was also discarded by a kennel due to the same congenital condition. He’s undergoing the same treatment as his sister.
Curious to see Tay’s performance? Besides racking up thousands of views, the post also gathered over 88,000 reactions and thousands of humorous comments.
“A little fainting spell, madam,” joked one user.
“Globo, come quick!” quipped another.
“When she laid down, I laughed so hard, dude,” wrote a third.

Haha, this pitty is a real actress!
We already know why Tay doesn’t want to walk. But why do dogs sit down during walks in general?
According to the news portal Petful, dogs may sit during a walk for a variety of reasons. Some do it because they’re tired or bored, while others may want to get their owner’s attention or show they don’t feel like continuing the walk.
In some cases, sitting down can be a form of protest or a sign of displeasure with the situation. Additionally, dogs with health issues or sore paws might sit to relieve discomfort.
