Woman Finds Creative Solution to Protect Guests Who Don’t Like Dogs

Juliane Carli, an internet user from Rio Grande do Sul, found the perfect solution for when a guest isn’t a big fan of your dogs.

She’s the proud owner of two dogs: Isadora, an eight-year-old Boston Terrier, and Koda, a one-year-and-nine-month-old American Bully.

But like in every family, there’s always someone who isn’t a big fan of dogs. That’s when Juliane had an idea.

The creative solution was posted on Juliane’s TikTok profile (@julianecarli) on July 27.

The idea seemed to please internet users — in less than 24 hours, the post had garnered over a million views.

“We were throwing my mom’s birthday party in my apartment,” Juliane told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news). “And my grandma really isn’t into dogs.”

In the video, you can see the family gathered in the living room along with the grandmother.

However, she’s inside a small fenced area to feel more comfortable and protected from the dogs.

“We were having a celebration, and I wasn’t going to keep the dog tied up, right? I’m not in the habit of doing that,” she added. “I’m strongly against keeping a dog on a leash like that, and I’d never do it—especially since they’re inside their own home, you know?”

However, her dogs are sociable little creatures and love to be around everyone, right? That’s why Isadora tried to bypass security by climbing onto the couch and jumping into her grandmother’s lap — who was sitting in a chair next to it. Hahaha!I think she’s trying to gain her grandmother’s trust and show how docile she is! Who knows, maybe on her next visit, her grandmother will cheer up and won’t need the playpen anymore!

“Anyone who knows Koda and Isadora knows exactly what they’re like — the kind of dogs who are always asking for affection, jumping in your lap, and licking you, you know? And that’s what my grandma doesn’t like.”

At first, Isadora and Koda were in the room with the door open and the playpen set up, so they wouldn’t scare grandma.

However, from time to time, a family member would go there to pet them. That’s when someone realized the grandmother was the only one uncomfortable around the dogs — and came up with a way to protect her.

The post received thousands of comments — and one user who doesn’t like cats shared what he does to avoid them:

“I’m terrified of cats, so I avoid going to houses that have them, because that’s their home, and I’m the intruder, lol, but I prefer distance.”

Another TikToker shares what she does to avoid people who don’t like the animals in her home: “I love the idea. Here we usually let people know that they’re not welcome before they arrive, lol, so they don’t come.”

Another user added: “I’m afraid of dogs, so I avoid going to the homes of people who have them. I think it’s better if people come to my place instead.”

Juliane and her family were creative, right?

To close the interview, Juliane expressed her love for her dogs, saying:

“They are my children — I can’t imagine my life without them. They are truly part of the family. I face prejudice every day because of Koda’s breed, especially in the condominium where I live, since some people believe he’s not a docile dog. It’s like they say — he may look like a tough guy, but he has the heart of a sweetheart. That’s why I share so much about their daily lives — mostly to show how sweet and affectionate he is with everyone, and to help fight the prejudice against the breed.”
