Owner Thought His Dog Was Pregnant with American Bully Puppies — But When They Were Born… Surprise!

Dener Ribeiro, a young man from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, is the owner of a three-year-old blue American Bully named Zara. He was sure she had mated with Zeus, a Merle American Bully. However, the puppies didn’t look anything like their supposed “dad.”

That’s because the nine puppies Zara gave birth to were black and had big ears — looking a lot like Biscoito, the family’s six-year-old Dachshund. Oh my… there’s something there, huh! Could there have been a romance between Zara and Biscoito?

Finding the situation hilarious, Dener shared part of the story in a video on his TikTok profile ( @denerrribeiro). The post has garnered over 584,000 views. Yeah… it seems people like drama! Dener has a pair of American Bullies and breeds them every year and a half — just like he does with his two Dachshunds. He runs a licensed kennel.

When the female Dachshund is in heat, he separates the male Bully — and vice versa — since all four dogs live together.

However, during Zara’s last heat, Dener didn’t realize it — she hadn’t shown any signs. He only noticed because the males started acting crazy.

At that point, he took Biscoito and the male Bully to his mother-in-law’s house — where they usually stay until the females’ cycles pass.

This time, he had planned to do an insemination — and the chosen suitor was Zeus, who belongs to his brother-in-law. There were high expectations for this litter — everyone was anxiously waiting for the puppies to arrive.

Zara was scheduled for a C-section followed by spaying on Friday, but on Wednesday night, she started showing signs of going into labor.

Dener was terrified because the puppies were going to be born prematurely. So he called an emergency veterinary service and paid R$3,500.00 for an urgent C-section.

When the medical team informed him that the dog had given birth to nine puppies, Dener was very happy.

However, Zara had to stay overnight at the hospital. The next morning, the owner received a photo of the litter from the vet — and they were all black, except one. Dener was confused, since neither of the parents had that coat color.

“When we got there, the vet handed them to me in a little box and—man, I was shocked! I was honestly a bit disappointed at first, because they were all black, with those little dachshund-like markings and ears almost bigger than their heads,” he recounted.

So, when exactly did Biscoito take advantage of the situation with Zara? It happened during a moment of distraction—Dener’s mother-in-law opened the bedroom door, and Zara walked in to lie on the bed.

But she didn’t realize that Biscoito had slipped in right behind her. And that’s when the magic happened—two days before the scheduled artificial insemination.

“She [Zara] is in love with Biscoito. He’s the love of her life—since the very first day she came to our house, it’s always been Biscoito. Wherever he goes, she follows. She loves him,” Dener revealed.

From that love, nine adorable puppies were born! All of them were adopted and are doing great.
