Oh, motherhood…

A little Shih Tzu named Luna demonstrated how tiring motherhood can be when she expressed her exhaustion to her owner, Tania Trombetta, after being asked to take care of her 20-day-old puppies.

Luna lives with her family in Mato Grosso, Brazil, and gave birth to five puppies, each one cuter than the last.

Dedicating attention and care to these little ones is a joy for this first-time mom; however, it can be a little tiring. That’s why she complained a little — or better yet, a whole lot!

Tania recorded the moment and shared it with us at Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news) via WhatsApp. Spoiler alert: it’s so cute!

In the video, Tania tells Luna that she needs to take care of her puppies. Luna, in her signature grumbling tone, complains to her owner as if saying, “Help me out, Tania—you’re the grandma!”

However, being a good mother, she paused, reflected, looked at her litter, grumbled one more time, and finally accepted her responsibility and continued with her motherhood duties. Yep… you can’t escape responsibility, Miss Luna. Grandma can spoil, but not raise them. (LOL)

“She had five puppies and has been a great mother the entire time. But, since we couldn’t keep all of them, we decided to keep just one,” Tania told Amo Meu Pet.

Tania said that Luna joined the family to keep her only child, Arthur, company. Since then, the two have become great friends. And it wasn’t just the boy’s heart that this little dog stole; she won the affection of everyone in the house.

“Today, Luna is an integral part of our lives. Wherever we go, she follows, along with her puppy, who is now one year old. We love animals!” she said.

So adorable! But I believe this is just the way Luna communicates, because in the video below, she grumbles to get Arthur’s attention.

How to assist a dog and her puppies after birth

According to PetMD, in order to help a dog and her puppies, it is essential to create a safe and comfortable place, provide proper food to the mother, and make sure the area is clean.

Additionally, it is important to monitor the puppies’ and mother’s health by watching for any signs of discomfort or problems during breastfeeding.

Consulting a veterinarian is essential to obtain all the specific guidance about care and to ensure everyone’s well-being. They can offer personalized advice, perform health tests, and answer any questions or concerns related to the mother and puppies.
