Owner Leaves Chihuahua Alone with a Delicious Meal — Watch What He Does

Have you ever wondered what your pet’s reaction would be if you left him alone with a plate of food? Gabrielle Reis, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, decided to test it out! She left her beloved Chihuahua alone with a delicious meal and stepped out for a few minutes. She told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news) what she expected from Romeo and what really happened.Anyone who knows Romeo knows how much of a glutton he is. This little guy constantly gives his human those pleading eyes, begging for food.

At home, he’s known as “the vacuum cleaner” for picking up every crumb off the floor. With that in mind, Gabrielle decided to see just how far he’d go for an irresistible meal.

"Romeo is such a foodie! Any crumb that hits the floor, he vacuums it up. He begs for food all day long — you'd think he was starving. We always knew he watched us eat, but I had never left a plate out like a buffet before, with no one around to stop him," she said in an interview with Amo Meu Pet.

So Gabrielle set up her camera, placed a plate on the bed, and stepped out of the room. Before she left, she warned Romeo:

“I’m leaving this here, but you can’t eat it,” she said in the video. Already assuming the worst of the poor little dog.

In the video, the poor pup looks at her and seems to understand the message.He licks his lips, tries to distract himself, looks out the window, whimpers a little, barks — and somehow manages to resist. Good boy! When Gabrielle returned to the room, she could hardly believe what she saw.

“I have to admit, I thought he’d take a big bite — but I was so surprised by his reaction and his ‘resilience,’” Gabrielle said.

His reaction was so unexpected that Gabrielle decided to show the video to friends and family. And of course, everyone had a blast watching poor Romeo’s struggle — hahaha!

“When I showed the video to my family and friends, they burst out laughing — so I decided to share it on his social media,” she said.

Mama’s Boy and Internet Star

At two years old, Memeu — as he’s affectionately called at home — had already become an internet sensation. On TikTok, he has thousands of fans who follow his daily mischief.

“At first, I created an Instagram profile to document his moments, since my family and I think he’s hilarious and such a character. Then I thought, ‘He already has an Instagram, so why not a TikTok too?’” Gabrielle said.

The baby of the house, Romeo loves going to the beach and rolling in the sand until he looks like a nugget — according to Gabrielle, hahaha.

“Memeu is a gift in our lives. He’s the first dog in our family and came to us at a time when my mom needed him most — helping us cope with the loss of my grandmother. His favorite hobby? Stealing socks — even from guests who aren’t paying attention,” she concluded.
