Golden Retrievers Star in the Country-Themed Dog Wedding of the Year — and the Bride Even Got a Full-On Dog Spa Day

Many lovebirds decided to say "I do" this June—and not all had their dad’s blessing. Such was the case for Chanel, a sweet Golden Retriever from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, who recently pledged her eternal love to fellow golden, Barth.

The charming ceremony took place at Pet in Paris and was packed with furry friends, bridespups, and best doggos. Even the maid of honor, Suzy the Spitz, traveled from another city just for the big day!

Speaking to Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Chanel’s mom, Nayana, shared details about the preparations and unforgettable moments from the big day.

“Chanel was pampered like royalty on her ‘bridal day’—complete with a Victorian-style bath, massage therapy, color therapy, aromatherapy, music therapy, and ionized showers. It was all about total relaxation,” she said.

But as Nayana tells it, everything was going smoothly until Chanel heard Barth barking. Even though she was nearly ready, she bolted to meet her beloved!

“Everyone warned us it was bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the ceremony—but it was already too late!”

The whole team had to rush after her, and Chanel was gently carried back to the dressing room by her personal groomer, Lucas.

Meanwhile, Barth was pacing with anticipation. At last, the wedding march played, and Chanel descended the stairs in full bridal glam, accompanied by her mom.

They walked down the aisle, and the ceremony officially began!

“The little goldens filled everyone’s hearts with puppy love, cuteness, and joy,” said Nayana. After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a spread of all-natural, pet-friendly treats designed by a pet nutritionist, along with some festive music.

“There were treats like Pupcorn Balls, Pawlenta Cakes (soft and chewy), Canine Candy Bites, and Doggie Apple Pops. It was a super fun and heartwarming day for my Chanel!” she added.

How It All Began

According to Nayana, Chanel and Barth first met during a Mother's Day event at Pet in Paris.

“For Barth, it was love at first sight. He couldn’t stop staring at the ‘blonde,’ and even got jealous when other pups came near Chanel,” recalls Nayana.

Chanel, on the other hand, didn’t show much interest. Days went by, but Barth couldn’t forget the charming pup.

“They met again at another event, where there were lots of goldens gathered. That day, Chanel received several ‘pup-posals,which made her dad, Vitor El Malih, very jealous — he pulled her aside to give her a lecture,” Nayana shared.

At the end of the event, Chanel was playing in the ball pit with another friend, and Barth didn’t waste any time.

“He joined in the fun—and that’s when Barth started to melt Chanel’s heart. They became best buddies, and soon after, they were totally in puppy love,” Nayana shared.

Since then, the two have been "dating." And when June rolled around, Barth didn’t miss his chance to put a (symbolic) ring on it!
