Little Dog, Big Love: Dachshund’s Sweet Moment with Baby Melts Hearts

A video showing a little dachshund (popularly known as a wiener dog) asking a baby for affection has charmed internet users. The video was posted by @viicroocha_ on TikTok on January 5 and has already gained over 2 million views.
In the video, the little dog Lunna approaches baby Luísa, who is sitting on the floor, and gently rests her head on the girl’s lap.
The baby then starts petting the dog, who seems very happy with the display of affection.
According to the baby’s mother, Victória, in an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website) the video was recorded three years ago — when Luísa was just three months old and Lunna was three.
She said she always liked to record the interaction between her daughter and the dogs, because they have a special bond.
“During my pregnancy, Lunna was the one who stayed closest to me. She would lie on my belly with her snout, and ever since my daughter was born, there has been so much love between them. Lunna always wants to be close,” said Victória, who lives in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul.
She says that Luísa and Lunna’s interactions are still the same.
“Luísa arrives home and Lunna and the others happily run to welcome her. Luísa keeps saying ‘she’s pretty, mommy’ and kissing Lunna”, Victória says.
Victória says the bond between her daughter and the little dog brings a deep sense of love and a lifelong friendship.
She also believes it’s important for children to grow up around pets, as it helps their physical and emotional development.
Besides Lunna, Victória has three other dogs, Dora and Amora, who are Lunna’s pups, and a kitten named Cherry. Victória said that all of them get along well and are part of the family.
