Watch How This Pitbull Reacted When His Family Brought Home a Bunny
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsShiro is a Pitbull who—well, let’s say was forced—to give up his role as the only child and become the big brother. And it seems he wasn’t thrilled about it. That’s because his new little brother can be a bit annoying—even stealing his bed sometimes!
Still, Shiro is a friendly guy—he puts up with the annoying little fellow, who happens to be a bunny. And let me tell you—this duo is absolutely adorable!
This Pitbull lives in São Paulo, Brazil, with his owners, Cibele and Rodrigo. One day, the couple decided to adopt a bunny to keep Shiro company and named him Floquinho.
“Actually, we had a bunny when Shiro was a puppy, but he passed away a year ago due to an intestinal blockage. We hadn’t planned on getting another—until Floquinho arrived,” Cibele told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news. “A friend couldn’t keep him because he didn’t get along with her dogs, so I decided to adopt him and see if the relationship would work out.”
At first, Shiro didn’t seem to like his new companion, but it didn’t take long for them to become friends. They seem to love getting into mischief together!
“To my surprise, it worked out even better than with the first bunny, since now Shiro is grown and I have more control over him when the two of them are alone together.”
A video of their interaction was shared on Shiro’s TikTok profile (@shiro_pit), which has over 628,000 followers.
The video is narrated in a fun and captivating way, making it seem like it’s Shiro himself talking. In it, Shiro shows just how sweet he is, helping to break the stigma associated with his breed.
In the scene, Shiro says his peace ended the moment “the snot-nosed one”—referring to Floquinho—arrived. Before that, when he was an only child, all the attention was on him and the house was quiet. According to Shiro: “I was happy and didn’t even know it.”
That’s when Cibele decided to adopt the bunny—and the bold little guy didn’t ease in gently. He went straight to Shiro’s bed, claiming it as his own. Talk about nerve!
“From the very first day, I realized we wouldn’t have any problems. He was curious, which is normal—but his tail kept wagging, and he never showed any discomfort with Floquinho’s arrival.”
Leaving them alone still wasn’t an option for Cibele, so she gradually socialized them until Shiro started insisting on being close to his brother.
Cibele allowed Shiro to be near him, but always kept him on a leash—just in case he might accidentally hurt the bunny.
“Over the past month, I’ve started letting them roam freely in the yard and inside the house—but always under supervision, because even unintentionally, Shiro could hurt him.”
Well, now Shiro has Floquinho’s company—and it seems he really loves his little brother, because he lets the bunny do whatever he wants. It’s such a joy to watch!
Absolutely in love with her pets, Cibele concluded the interview by saying:
“Shiro—and now Floquinho—mean a lot to me, because everything I do revolves around their well-being. And Floquinho only adds even more joy to our daily mission of showing people how important it is to be a responsible Pitbull owner. Just like with kids, dogs become what you teach them to be—so don’t expect something from them that you’re not willing or able to teach.”
The post has garnered over 601,000 views.
“I loooove Shiro! In my head, he’s the one actually speaking,” declared one internet user.
