This Great Dane Found His Best Friend in the Most Unexpected Place
The owner shared how their friendship began!

Moscou is a Great Dane who, besides being a giant, has an even bigger heart. The story of his friendship with a street cleaner in his town went viral on TikTok and became a real hit! In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), the owner shared how the two met and revealed that the dog spends his days eagerly waiting to see his best friend again.
A street cleaner who passes by Douglas Maccarini’s house every week in Santa Catarina, Brazil, probably never imagined he’d gain such a genuine friendship on his garbage route.
It all started almost a year ago when the two first met. Although Moscou’s size may seem intimidating, the three-year-old dog revealed his gentle side when receiving affection from Renato, the street cleaner.
“He’s been interacting with Renato for over a year. Moscou isn’t like that with everyone—he only engages with people he knows or those who clearly love dogs,” Douglas explained to Amo Meu Pet.
Since then, every Thursday when Renato passes by with the garbage truck, Moscou runs to greet him and showers him with hugs.
Despite being adorable, the scene generated some controversy, with TikTok users questioning whether Renato truly enjoyed the interaction—but this was cleared up by videos showing the street cleaner himself approaching and calling the dog.
Douglas revealed he only recently had the idea to post the videos, which were originally captured by his home security cameras.
“Until then, I hadn’t considered posting any videos, but after I shared the first one and it gained traction, I decided to post more. That’s when we started talking more with the street cleaner—until then, we hadn’t really met,” he explained.
Very attached to his family, the Great Dane loves staying close to the people he loves and is full of affection.
“Moscou loves going for walks—he never misses a chance to go out, even if it’s just to the next block. If I leave the house, he gets very sad, and when I return, he greets me with pure joy. He truly is incredible,” Douglas concluded.
