This Cockatiel Going for a Walk on a Leash Might Be the Cutest Thing You’ll See Today
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in Dogs
Victor Alves, an internet user, decided to take his cockatiel for a walk through the streets of Ceará, Brazil. You might expect Lupitto, the bird’s name, to be kept in a cage—but no! He came out wearing a special bird harness. So cute!
The pet seemed to enjoy the walk, freely exploring the area while its owner stayed calm, knowing it wouldn’t fly away and get lost.
The video of their walk was shared on the TikTok profile @vikiturr on May 7th, winning the hearts of thousands online.
In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), Victor said the idea of walking Lupitto on a leash came to him suddenly when he saw the harness on display at a pet shop. So, he bought it, hoping the bird would adapt—and, of course, Lupitto loved it!
“He really likes it because we go on walks together (carefully, of course)—and I enjoy it too. “With the harness, I feel at ease, since I don’t clip his wings. This way, I’m not worried about him flying away during the walk,” he explained.
The pet is very loved and well cared for by his owner! His nest and cage are always clean, so he can choose where to rest. his nest and cage are always clean, so it can choose where to nest. He eats seeds, eggs, and fruit, and always has clean water available. As for walks outside, there are no specific days for them.
Regarding the video’s impact, Victor said he was very happy: “Because this way, we can interact with people and, in a way, inspire them to invest in harnesses too.”
Victor emphasized that Lupitto had no issues wearing the harness—he showed no signs of discomfort or stress, as he is extremely docile.
“It’s worth noting that this can vary greatly—not every cockatiel may feel as comfortable wearing it as mine does,” Victor noted.
In love with the bird—who, according to Victor, is his daily alarm clock—he shared:
“Lupitto is one of the most important beings in my life, and to my family as well. He’s an incredible pet—always spreading love, affection, and companionship. Lulu, as we call him, fills the room with happiness and is loved by everyone. Without a doubt, he’s the best decision I’ve made in years.”

Now, here’s a fun fact about this handsome little guy:
“About his name—it’s like this: when we first got him, we thought he was a female and called him Lupitta. Later, we found out he was a male, so we changed it to Lupitto.”
Curious to see Lupitto walking on a leash? Over 505,000 people watched the video, 30,000 reacted, and thousands left comments.
“I never thought I would need to see a cockatiel wearing a collar until I saw a cockatiel wearing a collar,” declared one TikToker.

Bird Collars
Bird harnesses are devices designed to provide safety and control during walks or supervised outings.
These harnesses, specially designed for birds, are made of lightweight and safe materials like nylon or soft fabric to ensure comfort. They’re adjustable and feature a clip that wraps around the bird’s body without restricting its natural movement.
However, it’s important to note that not all birds adapt well to wearing harnesses, and it’s essential to follow the advice of an avian veterinarian to ensure your pet’s safety and well-being.
