Luna is a dog who absolutely loves daycare—and her favorite person there is Uncle Mateus Prado. So, when she had the chance, she ran away to see him. Yes—Mateus.

She lives in a gated community in São Paulo, Brazil, and every day Mateus picks her up in the van for daycare.

Just seeing the van from afar brings her joy!

Some of Mateus’ friends live in the same community, and he decided to visit them one night around 11 p.m.When he left around 3 a.m., he got quite the surprise.

From a distance, Mateus saw a small black-and-white figure walking up the street. When the little animal got closer, guess what? It was Luna.

Mateus assumed she had run away and called her—but instead of coming to him, the sweet girl went straight into the van, which had its door open.

“We were surprised she got in there. I immediately went to pet her and covered her with some towels—it was cold!” Mateus told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website)

Afterwards, Mateus called the condominium security guard, asking for permission to take her home. When he got there, the gate was open.

The clever girl managed to open the gate herself and escape! Pets are incredible!

The Other Day…

Around noon, Mateus received the sad news that Luna had passed away.

Could that late-night meeting have been Luna’s way of saying goodbye to someone she loved?

Whether or not it was, one thing is certain: Mateus was deeply moved.

“That’s when a tear ran down my cheek. Once again, God was showing me my purpose here—she was saying goodbye. That moment will forever stay in my heart,” he shared.

That morning, Luna was rushed to the vet, where she was diagnosed with tick-borne disease. Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to receive treatment.

According to the Inova Veterinary Hospital’s blog, tick-borne disease is caused by microorganisms—such as bacteria or protozoa—found in the feces of infected ticks.

When these ticks bite an animal or a human, they can transmit the pathogens, causing symptoms ranging from fever, fatigue, and muscle pain to more serious complications like heart or neurological issues.

It is a disease that mainly affects animals, but it can also be transmitted to humans through infected ticks.

Prevention includes using specific products to control ticks in the environment and on the pet, such as oral medication, collars, or topical treatments.

Early treatment is essential to avoid complications.

The Video

Mateus recorded the moment and shared it on the daycare’s social media. The post has garnered thousands of views and plenty of funny comments.

Deise commented, “Dedicated student, arriving early.” Valéria wrote, “Her: ‘Uncle, I’m only leaving when you take me to school. Let’s go…’”

Elen joked, “I didn’t want my house, Uncle. I want to go to school.” Mercia added, “She’s just excited to study.”
