Woman Buys “Brazilian Terrier” Online—Gets a Whole Different Surprise
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in Dogs
Kira was bought by her owner, Mônica Kipper, as a Brazilian Terrier. As time went by, the dog grew—and her true identity was revealed…
She was a beautiful mixed breed!
Mônica, who lives in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, saw an online ad around 2021 selling a mini Brazilian Terrier for R$700. Without hesitation, she bought it.

In the ad photo, Kira resembled a Terrier—with white fur and black and caramel markings, typical of the breed.
More than happy, Mônica brought home the new family member.
Based on Terrier traits, Kira was expected to be a small dog with a short, dense coat—mostly white, with black or brown spots on her head and ears.
At least the fur color matched—haha. Look:

She was also expected to have a small, elongated head, dark eyes, and perked ears.
A short, straight tail; muscular legs and small paws.
Plus, an alert and happy expression—typical of the breed’s energy and intelligence.
However, that’s not how Kira turned out!
But that’s not a problem, Mônica loves her two-year-old little one unconditionally.
Mônica told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website) that she couldn’t resist the ad. “So cute and small,” she said—the little dog stole her heart right away.
“The ad even said she was a mini Brazilian Terrier. But as she kept growing, we realized that wasn’t the case,” she recalled.
The owner said they went through many dog beds, as Kira kept outgrowing them. In other words, the dog grew beyond her expectations!
“We watched her grow and gain a pound every month,” she said. “My husband told me I was scammed and asked me to complain because we paid for her.”
Her husband even suggested returning the dog, but Mônica refused. “I already loved her so much—I didn’t even care anymore,” she said.
Today, Kira is the joy of the house!
“She is everything to us, it’s impossible to think about being without her,” she concluded.
That’s the kind of scam we forgive, right?
