Golden Retriever’s Obsession with Pom-Poms Leads to Hilarious Santa Hat Incident

Guto is a Golden Retriever who made his owner laugh nervously after becoming fascinated by the pom-pom on Santa’s hat and deciding to pull it off his head.

Guto joined his owner, Stéfany Rebeca Souza Neves, at a Golden Retriever meetup held at Eldorado Shopping Mall in São Paulo, Brazil.

Surrounded by furry friends, Guto enjoyed the afternoon more than any other pup.

“The event was a blast! We got to meet new pets and owners, and Guto had a great time with his new friends,” Stéfany told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website).

But he didn’t expect that this day would be more than special, as Santa Claus made a surprise appearance to bring even more joy to the Golden Retriever event.

“While the event was happening, I was informed that Santa Claus would show up to take pictures with everyone who was there,” she said. “He ended up being a little late and we got together to take pictures with the other pets. When we took these pictures, Santa Claus arrived, Guto and I were sitting near the entrance and I immediately started filming Santa Claus’ entrance.”

The good old man was wearing the typical Christmas outfit, and guess what Guto was enchanted by when he saw the outfit? The little ball on the hat.

Overflowing with joy upon seeing the white-bearded man entering the mall lobby and ringing the bell, Guto couldn’t contain himself and started jumping on him.

Not satisfied, the handsome dog fell in love with the pompom and then what did he do? He pulled off the hat.

“The moment he heard the bell, he wanted to get close to Santa Claus and I let him get closer because I would never have imagined he would do that hahaha.”

If the pet’s intention was to unmask Santa Claus, the attempt was frustrated, as the “old man’s” hair was not a wig, haha.

That was the moment the owner started laughing nervously, dying of embarrassment at the pet’s behavior.

Santa Claus was not accompanied by elves, but was under the surveillance of security guards who tried to intervene, taking the hat out of Guto’s mouth.

But it was difficult, because Guto thought it was a Christmas present for him and didn’t want to let go of the pompom at all.

When they succeeded, Guto, like a good Brazilian, insisted on what he wanted so much.

“Guto is a character, very spontaneous, he doesn’t stray from the characteristics of his breed, he spends the whole day clowning around, and wherever he goes, he gets up to something,” she declared.

Well, Guto didn’t get the pompom, but his mother made a dream come true: going down the escalator holding the little golden in her arms, because at the meeting there was this unique moment.

Not every Golden is a mischievous one! But you can be sure that where there is 'cute confusion', there will always be one!

Now it remains to be seen whether, due to this behavior, Guto will receive a present on December 25th. What do you think?

The tip is for him to write a letter to Santa Claus apologizing for the incident and hope that Santa receives it and forgives him, haha.

Guto then comes back here and tells us whether he won a gift or not. We want to know!

Although, if it depends on his 'mother', he will receive a lot of affection and pampering.

"Without a doubt, he makes our days much more fun and entertaining. He is my little son, my companion at all times, who transforms any moment into a moment of joy and lots of fun. I am extremely happy to reciprocate all the love he gives us, providing many happy moments for him and keeping all the records with great affection," she concluded.

The post has accumulated more than 53 thousand views and hundreds of funny reactions and comments.

"After this there won't be any presents," joked one internet user.
"It had to be a golden," declared another.
"The cutest little bandit," commented a third.

Since we're in the Christmas spirit...

See what this owner did to try to stop her cats from destroying the Christmas tree.

Living in Rio de Janeiro, Laura Freire put up a beautiful tree. Up until then, everything was wonderful; the problem would be keeping the decoration intact in front of her felines' eyes and paws.

So, she resorted to a playful demonstration of what could happen if the cuties decided to attack the tree.

I wonder if it the staging worked?
