Thrown in a Sewer, Now She Rides in Style—This Rescue Dog’s Glow-Up Is Everything

Found in the sewer, a scared little mixed-breed dog went through some really bad times until her forever family saved her. Stella, as she was named, was not only covered in wet dirt but also starving and infested with fleas. In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), Priscila Monteiro, Stella’s mom, shared more about the rescue and how the pup is doing today.

Priscila Monteiro, who lives in Rio de Janeiro, doesn’t know what Stella went through before she arrived at her doorstep.

At approximately 5 years old, the poor dog had to fight to find a welcoming and forever home.

“I found Stella on a street next to my house. She was crawling out of a sewer, completely covered in wet dirt. Even though she looked physically healthy, she was infested with fleas and seemed to have suffered a lot,” her owner recalls.

However, those scary days were left behind. From that moment on, Stella was welcomed and received all the care she needed. She finally discovered what it is like to be loved.

“She’s a gift from God. He put Stella in my path. We were destined to find each other,” Priscila says.

All the changes Stella went through were compiled in a video shared on Priscila’s Instagram. In the post, she shared the moment Stella was found and what her life is like now.

“One day you’re dumped in a sewer, the next you’re wearing a little dress and parading in a car at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. I chose this song because it perfectly captures how I feel about my dogs — life truly is better with them. My youngest, Stella. Now I’m a mother of three,” Priscila wrote.

Very playful and a little mischievous, Stella spends her days playing with her older brother, Thor, according to her owner.

“Thor, my first pup, was bought. I got him as a Mini Pinscher, but he turned out to be huge — he’s a mixed-breed Pinscher, haha! I don’t regret it at all, because he probably would’ve been abandoned, since he grew way too big compared to an actual Mini Pinscher,” she explains.

The middle kid, Step, also came into the family’s life through rescue. However, unlike Stella, he was very sick and had to go through many treatments and special care.

“Step was my second. My husband and I rescued him from the streets. He was very debilitated — it was really hard to save his life — but today he’s thriving, and rescuing him was the best thing we ever did,” Priscila highlights.

Priscila also shared Step’s story in a video, highlighting all the effort and dedication it took to save him.

“Those were hard and distressing days, but God is wonderful. With a lot of effort and love, Leandro Lima and I managed to save the life of our second son. Step, you completed us, you brought us happiness — we would do it all over again for you,” she explained.
