He Wasn’t on the List, But This Dog Joined the Beauty Pageant Anyway
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsThe Grape Queen Pageant is a traditional celebration held in Colombo, Paraná (Brazil). But during one of the editions, something unexpected happened.
Among the 15 human contestants, an adorable caramel stray decided to compete too, surprising everyone at the event.
Caramelo, named after his beautiful caramel fur, exuded charm as he strutted down the catwalk at the Events Pavilion of Parque Municipal da Uva.
The hilarious moment was captured by Bruna Arruna, 22, who witnessed the once-in-a-lifetime show of the friendly stray.
Caramelo’s entrance was not discreet; he made sure to get everyone’s attention, doing yoga poses and showing off his physical appearance to the judges, hahaha.
Right after this, he surprised everyone with a bold street dance move, earning laughs and applause from both the audience and online viewers.
Despite Caramelo’s charm and charisma, he wasn’t officially part of the pageant, so he was gently escorted off the stage to let the human contestants continue their presentations.
Despite many comments on social media suggesting that Caramelo deserved to win, the title of Grape Queen was given to Marcelly Bertolin.
In an interview Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Bruna Arruda, who works at the park, shared Caramelo’s story. She revealed that the mutt was abandoned in Colombo’s Grape Grove in the past.
Touched by his charming presence, the park staff decided to adopt him. Nowadays, Caramelo lives in the Grape Park, occasionally participating in events as a gatecrasher.
“He is very well cared for here—he’s neutered, vaccinated, and everything,” said Bruna.
Caramelo’s story provided moments of joy and fun at the Grape Queen Contest, as well as lots of laughter among viewers who saw the post, which was watched over 157,000 times.
The dog Caramelo, even without being part of the pageant, stole the spotlight and won hearts with his unique personality.
Additionally, Bruna already considers him a winner, referring to the dog as “our current Grape King of Colombo”.

Bruna also shared that Caramelo usually shows up at her work to ask for pats every morning.
Apparently, caramel strays love to steal the show. We have already published some similar stories.
This dog, for example, from Pará, decided to simply follow along Cintia Luna’s dance presentation.
