Trained Since Puppies, These Poodles Wait for the Walk Signal Before Crossing
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in Dogs
Dogs are very smart and learn commands easily—especially the one-year-old Poodle pups Floyd and Whastm, who follow commands without hesitation.
The owners of these cuties are Kelly Cristina Marques dos Santos and her husband, Euler, who live in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais (Brazil). In a video sent to us here at Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Kelly showed just how smart this white, curly-haired duo really is.

Can you believe they walk without a leash and only cross the street with their owner’s permission? It’s the cutest thing!
In the video, Floyd and Whastm walk under Euler’s supervision, and just before crossing the street, he tells them to sit and wait until the pedestrian light turns green—and they obey.
When the light changes and Euler says “come,” the playful pair crosses the street with him, right over the crosswalk.
Kelly says Euler began teaching them the commands “come,” “stop,” and “sit” when they were just a month old, since the couple didn’t want them to feel restricted by a leash.
“Since they were little, Euler has been training them because we never wanted to use collars and make them feel trapped,” Kelly said.
This little duo is very smart! And it’s no surprise—according to veterinarian Amy Flores from WebMD, Poodles are ranked as the second most intelligent dog breed, just behind the Border Collie.
In addition to being smart, Floyd and Whastm are deeply loved by their owners. Kelly said, “They bring so much love—we take great care of our pets.”

Poodles
According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), Poodles are a breed known for its intelligence and curly coat. They are highly trainable and excellent at obedience.
Interestingly, Poodles were originally water dogs used to retrieve waterfowl. Their name “Poodle” comes from the German word “pudel”, which means “to splash in the water,” reflecting their ability in the water.
Despite their elegant image, they are energetic dogs and love to play.
Poodles are also known for being hypoallergenic due to their low-shedding coat, making them a popular choice for people with allergies.
Importance of Training
According to the news portal Wag Walking, dog training plays a crucial role in the harmonious coexistence between humans and their pets.
It allows dogs to understand basic commands, rules and boundaries, making them more confident and obedient.
Furthermore, training helps to strengthen the bond between the owner and the animal, promoting effective communication.
This can prevent unwanted behaviors, aggression problems and make it easier for the dog to socialize with other animals and people.
