Golden Retriever’s Joy Over Toy Chick Is the Best Thing You’ll See Today

It doesn’t take much to make Dory, the Golden Retriever, happy; she just needs a little chick. Her joy with the toy is contagious.

The owner of this cutie is João Paulo Araripe, who lives in Ceará, Brazil. In this adorable video posted to his TikTok profile on October 12, he showed the dog’s happiness when receiving the wind-up toy.

In the video, João is seen winding up the chick, while Dory anxiously stays close, expecting to see the toy moving on the floor.

When the owner lets the chick go and it walks away, Dory is beaming, jumping with joy.

The post has garnered over 697,000 views, 116,000 reactions, and thousands of affectionate comments.

“Why is this video 3 hours long?” joked an internet user.

“Did you wind up the chick or the Golden?” commented another.

“The happy jumps,” declared a third.

João told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news)that this cutie is seven years old and that the video was recorded two and a half years ago. However, despite the time that has passed, the pet’s joy remains the same.

And it’s not just the chick that excites Dory—she always jumps up and down whenever she gets anything. This must be her way of showing her gratitude for the gift. So cute!

“Once, I tried giving her a different toy—a chick—that she could interact with more, since it would jump when wound up. And just like that, it worked,” he said.

Here’s a fun fact: Dory was so happy with the chick that, after the video, the poor toy only lasted 10 minutes. As João put it, “Golden things.”

João says that this little princess is the family’s pride and joy—and that her real love is for a stuffed duck she carries everywhere.
