Meet the Golden Retriever Who Refuses to Relax Until the AC Is On
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsChanel is a Golden Retriever with a demanding personality who knows exactly what she wants. And what does she want? To cool off in the air conditioning, of course!
In a captivating video shared on the Goldie’s Instagram profile, Chanel made a clear request to Nay Lowhaine, who lives in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The dog simply puts the AC remote in her mouth and hands it to Nay.
While the owner asks, “Is this what you want?” Chanel looks anxiously at the device, waiting for a refreshing breeze.
After the owner turns on the AC, Chanel shows her satisfaction by lying on her bed to enjoy the cool air.
How Did She Learn That?

Nay shared with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news) how the clever two-year-old Golden learned to ask for the AC.
It all started when the Civil Defense issued a warning about severe heat waves in their region.
Vitor, Chanel’s devoted dad, decided to install an AC in the room where she spent most of her time.
“He would take the remote and say, ‘Dad will turn on the AC for you!’” And she would get all happy when the room started to cool.
According to Nay, that was when “the little rascal became spoiled!”

Today, she knows that if she brings the remote to her owners, the room will become pleasantly cool.
And be careful if you don’t heed the dog’s request:
“She hops around a bit, like she’s tap dancing, and barks at the remote.”
And there’s no point in trying to hide the remote.
“If we put the remote in the closet, she howls, calling us to get it, and paws at the closet to say, ‘I know it’s in there.’”
Chanel is adorably clever. However, it seems she still hasn’t learned that electricity isn’t free.
“Then I joke with Vitor: when the electric bill arrives, Chanel will eat it to help you, won’t she?” Nay laughs.
Despite the jokes, Chanel isn’t just a spoiled girl. The Goldie plays an important role!
Spoiled? Yes! But hard-working too!

Nay reveals that Chanel is a certified therapy dog and works in a social project called “Projeto AUlegria” (PupJoy Project in English), which she founded.
“We do volunteer visits to hospitals, and we already have 15 partners in the project and 3 more dogs in training.”
Among the places visited by Chanel and her team is Santa Casa’s Pediatric Oncology unit in their city.
“Chanel puts on a costume, and the PupJoy family takes little gifts to the children. It is a fun moment, filled with love and smiles!”

Besides being a therapy dog, Chanel is also a pet influencer and the ambassador of several pet brands.
“Each one was strictly paw-picked!” Nay joked.
So, there’s no problem with Chanel wanting to spend a few hours with the AC on, right?
Nay shares that Chanel is the family’s joy and that, since her arrival, she has been brightening the couple’s lives.
“She has a special light that encourages us to share her love so that her PupJoy spreads to more and more people!”
