Meet Jessie, the Cat Who’s Convinced She’s the Real Mother of Her Owner’s Children

Jessie, a three-year-old kitty, has taken on (or is at least trying to take on, haha) the role of mother to her owner Rayane de Lima Silva’s human babies. In videos shared on TikTok, Rayane shows the incredible bond Jessie has formed with her children, revealing a unique emotional connection between the cat and the little ones.

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Rayane explained how Jessie became such a loving feline mother. After all, before the children arrived, she was known for being distant and not very affectionate with people. However, everything changed when Rayane became pregnant for the first time.

“Suddenly, she clung to me, and we discovered that I was pregnant with my first child. She would lie on my belly, lick me, and make biscuits. When Miguel was born, she wouldn’t leave his side—they were best friends,” Rayane recalled.

Everything seemed perfect in Jessie’s world—she had her own baby… or so she thought, haha. That’s when Rayane discovered she was pregnant again. However, this time, the kitten showed no interest in staying close to her during the pregnancy.

“I got pregnant again, and she didn’t do the same things—we thought she wouldn’t like Alice as much,” recalled the owner.

But to the family’s happy surprise, as soon as Alice was born, the cat once again took on the role of a doting mother or sister. “They’ve grown closer, and now it feels like she’s more Jessie’s than mine,” she said proudly.

In the videos shared on Rayane’s TikTok profile, it’s clear from afar—Jessie takes great care of her human siblings. She’s a real feline nanny!

“Jessie is very gentle with children. With me and my husband, she plays more intensely. But with them, she gives light, painless bites and plays without using her nails. I think that’s incredible,” praised Rayane.

Fun Fact

Jessie was so attached to her owner’s belly during her pregnancy with Miguel that she seemed to sense the moment he would come into the world. Her reaction showed unusual sensitivity, making Jessie even more incredible!

“When I went into labor during my first pregnancy, Jessie noticed and became agitated. She meowed a lot and wrapped herself around my leg,” she concluded emotionally.
