In early October 2024, an unexpected encounter changed the life of one-year-old Ysadora Victoria’s family. The little girl unexpectedly found a special friendship when a puppy decided to follow her, and since then, their lives have never been the same.

While Ysadora Cristina Godoy, the mother, and her daughter Ysabella were walking through their neighborhood, an adorable little black dog appeared out of nowhere, showing a clear interest in the toddler.

The dog didn’t just follow them — she showed genuine affection for Ysabella. The mother, in disbelief and charmed by the situation, decided to observe the dog’s behavior more closely. The connection between the girl and the dog seemed magical, as if they were soulmates destined to find each other.

“She simply followed my baby, kept smelling her feet and, before I knew it, she was already inside the house with me,” the mother said in an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news).

While Ysabella played with the dog, Ysadora realized she couldn’t ignore this special encounter. With a warm heart, she shared the story on social media that same day, captioned: “I think that’s it — I got a dog.” Within hours, the post went viral, garnering over 2 million views and hundreds of likes and shares.

“Guys, this is unbelievable — two babies sharing this connection. Imagine them growing up together,” wrote one user.
“It reminds me of Despicable Me 3, the scene where Agnes finds the goat and keeps hugging him,” said another.
“My best childhood memories have pets in them,” added a third.

The little dog was named Pantera, but in the interview, the mother said that Ysabella calls her by an adorable nickname: “Baby.” Since then, the mother has shared more videos showing their routine — many of them requested by users who want to know more about their friendship. In addition to getting plenty of hugs, the little dog now has her own spot on the bed, along with blankets to keep her warm.

When asked whether she had ever planned to give her daughter a pet, Ysadora said no.

“I adopted her because I saw that my baby had so much love for her, and I thought maybe it was destiny that brought them together,” she concluded.

Growing up with a pet can offer many benefits for a child’s development — including companionship, responsibility, empathy, social skills, stress relief, physical activity, learning, self-esteem, personal growth, and the teaching of values. However, the decision to adopt a pet must be made responsibly, taking into account the family’s ability to care for the animal and whether the type of pet is appropriate for the child’s age and environment.
