Friendly Pitbull Just Wants to Play—But the Cat Couldn’t Care Less
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in Animal World
Playing alone can be fun, but playing with a friend is even better. At least that’s what Bernaly, a super sweet Pitbull who’s almost two years old, believes. The problem is who she invites to play with, since her feline brother, Caio, isn’t very willing to interact, haha.
This duo lives with their owner, Daniele Soares, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thinking that Bernaly’s moment of gently inviting her little brother to play was too cute to miss, Daniele recorded it.
In the video, the kitten is sitting on a piece of living room furniture, while Bernaly, on the couch, holds a ball in her mouth and throws it at Caio. However, the feline didn’t want to interrupt his moment of relaxation and ignored the invitation.Poor Bernaly — she was even embarrassed by her brother’s reaction.
The video, shared on Daniele’s TikTok profile on August 11, was captioned “The life of a Pitty who became a cat’s brother,” and has garnered over 508,000 views.
Bernaly’s Adoption
When Bernaly joined the family, Daniele already had three cats, and many said it wouldn’t be wise to adopt a dog, as she might pose a threat to them. Even her eight-year-old son scared her with the idea, saying that the Pitbull would kill them. But going against everyone’s opinion, she adopted her.
In the beginning, the dog’s relationship with the cats was a little difficult, but with love and guidance, the quartet adapted and are now best friends!
If the fear was that Bernaly might hurt the cats, one thing’s for sure: it’s actually the other way around — they totally boss her around!
Love Overcomes Prejudice
During the socialization period, the cats rejected the Pitbull and didn’t want to be around her, while she just wanted to play with them. There were times they even scratched the poor girl, but the owner didn’t give up and allowed them to get closer under her supervision — that’s why they are friends today.
“It took a few months, it wasn’t that simple! But after a while, they gave in — now they love each other,” Daniele told
Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news).

Of the three cats, the one most attached to the Pitty is the one in the video. They love playing, but of course, only when he feels like it. Otherwise, we know what he does, right? He ignores her.
“They have a sibling relationship,” she said. “I even joke that he thinks he’s a cat.”
Without a doubt, those who were opposed to Daniele’s idea of adopting a Pitbull back then have changed their minds, because Bernaly is living proof that love and training are the foundation of a dog’s good behavior, regardless of breed.
Loving her dog and wanting to demystify the prejudice, Daniele states:
“I’m happy to stand up for this cause and show that with love and dedication, everything goes smoothly — it’s nothing like what people say about the breed.”
The Video
In addition to thousands of views, the post has garnered over 85,000 reactions and thousands of funny comments.
“The cat’s face is like: ‘I don’t have a single moment of peace,’” joked one internet user.
“One look is worth a thousand meows,” wrote another, laughing.
“The cat: ‘Mom, she knows I’m a cat, right?’” joked a third.
