Young Man Gets Even After Being Chased by a Gang of Caramel-Colored Stray Dogs
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in Dogs
What would you do if you were on a bike or skates and got chased by a gang of caramel-colored stray dogs? At the very least, you’d use all your skills to get away, right? Well, that’s exactly what Lucas Justino dos Santos did. However, at the first chance he got, he got his revenge. What do I mean by that?
In the funny video posted on his Instagram profile, Lucas showed both sides of the same coin: one where he’s rollerblading and being chased by the dogs, and the other where he’s chasing them instead.
The scene, captioned as “one day you’re the prey, the next you’re the hunter”, went viral online, racking up over 2.2 million views and thousands of hilarious comments.
The Day of the Prey
Lucas, who lives in Roraima, Brazil, has been rollerblading for nine years. He is the 2020 Sprint RR Champion and the 2022 Fire in Patins RR Champion.
He loves what he does. He founded a rollerblade store, and the parking lot of the establishment is the setting of Lucas’s ongoing rivalry with the dogs.
The dogs like to hang out there, and their goal isn’t to rest on the grass nearby, but to chase the cars that come in. That’s when Lucas had the idea of getting them to chase him.
He even invited some friends to join in the prank, but knowing the dogs don’t back down when provoked, they declined the idea. Still, Lucas didn’t hesitate and decided to tease the strays. Did it work?
“In the video, it looks like I was just rollerblading and they attacked me, but no—I meant for them to chase me,” Lucas told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news).
The Day of the Hunter
In the next moment, Lucas appears chasing the dogs—but that part wasn’t intentional. Lucas explained that the caramel gang is always at the park, and after finishing work one day, he saw them there again.
Lucas decided to make a part two of the dogs chasing him. So he skated past them again—but this time, the strays dropped their tough act and ran away in fear. In the video, Lucas then yells, “It’s revenge!” and takes off after them on his skates.
“It was late at night, and the streets were empty, so I wasn’t worried about things like, ‘Oh, what if he runs into the road and gets hit,’” he explained.
Of course, the intention was never to hurt or mistreat the dogs. “It just kind of happened, and I went along with it. I wanted them to chase me, but in the end, they ran from me,” he joked.
Video’s Repercussion
The skater didn’t expect the video to go viral. “But when it comes to caramel dogs, which are basically a Brazilian treasure, right?” “These dogs are hilarious in so many situations, and people really love seeing them,” he explained.
“Something tells me this war isn’t over,” wrote one internet user.
“Get ready, that caramel dog’s bringing an even bigger gang next time.Tic toc…” joked another.
