Have you ever seen an angry parakeet? No? Well, Dakota is one of the feistiest — and guess who she picks fights with? The family cats!

Fearlessly, this sassy lady stands her ground and makes both cats and dogs run away. It seems like the animal kingdom has turned upside down — haha!

Dakota is a one-legged bird who loves to wander around the yard. One day, she decided to venture into the cats’ and dogs’ area.

She broke through the screen gate and started terrorizing her furry siblings, scattering pecks in all directions.

Her owner, Monica Barbui, noticed the commotion coming from the pet area and went to check what was happening.

When she opened the door, she discovered the reason: the parakeet was chasing the dogs and cats, scaring them. As they say, size doesn’t matter. No one got hurt!

Finding the situation funny, Monica, who lives in São Paulo, Brazil, filmed the moment and shared it on her TikTok profile on the 23rd with the caption: “My rescued one-legged parakeet ‘terrifies’ cats.”

Dakota’s Adoption

Monica told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), that Dakota came into her life unexpectedly. An acquaintance of hers was working on her house’s wiring when he spotted the little bird on the ceiling, with one of her legs stuck in the wires.

“He got her down and brought her to me. She had a wire tied around her leg, which had already become necrotic and had to be amputated.”

With a strong, angry, and jealous personality, Dakota believes herself to be a cat, according to Monica. The bird loves to chase the cats and even meows like them. I think she was born in the wrong body—haha!

The parakeet is the family’s little terror, yet everyone still loves her. Monica says, “To me, she’s a symbol of resilience and a reminder that we should protect the environment so animals can be safe and not migrate to urban areas.”

The Video’s Success

In addition to thousands of views, the post has garnered many reactions and countless funny comments.

“I am an apocalyptic parakeet,” joked one internet user.
“OMG, she’s meowing,” wrote another in disbelief.
“If she’s like that with only one leg, just imagine if she had both,” pondered a third.
