Sarah Vitoria found out that her cat has a favorite singer. Madame is a true Taylor Swift fan. All Sarah has to do is play one of the singer’s songs and the cat soon appears. And to top it all off, she’ll be all cuddled up.

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian pet news website), Sarah said that Madame (Lady, in English) has this name precisely because she behaves like a lady.

Additionally, her white paws give the impression that she is constantly wearing “high heels.”

According to Sarah, the two-year-old cat is very affectionate. But that wasn’t always the case.

During her first year of life, Madame was a little skittish. Because of that, Sarah started looking for ways to make the cat kinder.

Besides giving her a feline brother and access to a closed garden, Sarah started using a different tone of voice with the kitty.

She noticed that talking in a sweeter voice resulted in more docile behavior.

Sarah believes that the cat’s “musical taste” is related to this, since many of Swift’s songs have a calm aspect to them.

“I started paying attention and realized that every time a Taylor Swift song played, she would come asking for cuddles.”

Sarah observed that this affectionate behavior especially occurred during songs where the singer’s voice was predominant.

Wildest Dreams, the song in the video, is Madame’s favorite.

In the 2023 Spotify Wrapped, Taylor Swift was the most listened to artist in the world. Apparently, the feline public is included in this statistic.

Besides Madame, other cats can be seen appreciating the singer’s hits, like this one below:

For many of them, the songs are calming.

This one even fell asleep.

Pay attention to this kitty’s paw.

Do Cats Like Music?

Behavioral veterinarian Amy Pike told The Dodo that cats pay attention to the songs humans are listening to, even if the volume is low.

“Cats can hear the music, and their hearing is better than our own,” the veterinarian said to The Dodo.

Cats can even enjoy what’s playing—of course, if it suits their taste, hahaha.

And to know if the genre pleases your cat, it’s very simple:

“They won’t rush out of the room while the song is playing,” she said. “The song won’t cause them agitation and they will feel relaxed and comfortable.”

Additionally, your cat might stop you from switching tracks—just like this little Swiftie here:

A good way to please feline ears is to test songs that are appropriate for the species.

“Specific music can be calming,” said the veterinarian. “Species-specific music rather than human music may be better if you want to comfort or please your cat.”

Does Taylor Swift compose her songs with the felines in mind? The question remains.
