Forget Walks or Food—This Golden Wakes Up His Human with a Very Specific Demand
By Gabriele Tancredo Stella in DogsPicture this: Every night, a woman is woken up by her Golden Retriever, Jack, with a very peculiar request. It feels like a movie script, but that’s the reality for Jack and Luly’s owner, a poor woman. Deyjana told Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news) the reason behind the dog’s insomnia—and how she handles his nighttime awakenings with good humor.
It all started when the story of these adorable four-legged friends won over people on social media. In a video shared on the dogs’ Instagram, the owner opened up about Jack’s nighttime awakenings—and the real culprit behind them.
“Luly’s bed is next to Jack’s, but she always goes to his bed,” Deyjana explained to Amo Meu Pet.
When the clock ticks into the early hours, Jack usually heads to his own bed—except it’s already taken… by Luly. And it’s not like she doesn’t have her own bed—or that it’s far from Jack’s! “Her bed is next to his, but she always ends up in Jack’s bed. In the middle of the night, when he goes to sleep in his bed, she’s there.
Trying to be a gentleman—or whatever Jack’s intentions were—he doesn’t bark or try to kick his sister out of his bed. He goes to his human mom to handle the situation.
“He simply wakes me up with gentle pats, then looks at his bed and back at me, as if to say: ‘She’s in my bed!’ Sometimes, to avoid getting up to move her, I ask him to sleep on my bed—but that doesn’t always work.”
Luly: A Born Invader
But this story isn’t just about the bed struggle. Deyjana shared more about Luly’s invasion of Jack’s personal space. Even though she’s smaller, the Chihuahua has a huge appetite for everything that belongs to the Golden.
“She wants everything that’s his—even if I buy the same things for both of them. If he has a toy, she wants to take it from him. Since Luly is a puppy—and maybe because she lives with him—she thinks Jack is one too. She’s not afraid of big dogs—she imitates Jack in everything, even how he sleeps,” the owner said.
Jack, who’s three years old, joined the family first and has always been gentle and careful with one-year-old Luly.
“They get along really well,” said the owner. “She wants to play all the time, and he often ignores her. We were a bit nervous about getting Luly, since she was so small and Jack so big—but from the start, he’s always been very gentle. He never hurt her.”
Unlike Luly, Jack gets a little jealous—but it’s manageable. “He’s more jealous of his dad. When his dad picks up Luly, Jack rushes over—no matter what he’s doing,” the owner said, adding that he still respects and takes care of his bossy sister.

So adorable! I wonder if he’s scared—or if he just respects his sister!
