A Golden Retriever and a Mutt Get AC in Their Doghouse — and Their Owner Captures the Best Reaction

Thinking of her dogs’ well-being, Bruna Fernandes Tonin, from Paraná, Brazil, had a brilliant idea to keep them cool in the heat. No, it wasn’t ice cream or water with ice cubes — it was an air conditioner. She had it installed in the dogs’ doghouse. Cool, right?

Temperatures begin to rise even before summer officially arrives. If we humans suffer in the heat, imagine how the animals feel. Wanting to keep her dogs as comfortable as possible, Bruna repurposed an old — but still functional — AC unit from home and installed it in their doghouse.

Did they like it? They LOVED it! In addition to installing the AC, Bruna decorated the space to keep it insulated and prevent the cool air from escaping. She even surrounded the doghouse with artificial grass. These dogs are really living the good life, aren’t they?

If their job was to guard the house, Bruna can forget about that — who would want to patrol the yard when there’s air conditioning waiting at home?

Bruna recorded the dogs enjoying the comfort and shared the video on her TikTok profile on September 8, with the caption: “Is it hot for you too? It's already close to 113°F here. My dogs are thankful.”

The Idea

In an interview with Amo Meu Pet (our Brazilian website about pet news), Bruna said she has six dogs, but the ones who use the AC are Eros, a Golden Retriever, and Pandora, a mixed-breed; both are eight years old.

“Eros is an elderly, obese Golden Retriever with hypothyroidism who recently started having seizures, but now he’s on medication. Pandora is also an elderly dog, a mixed-breed, but she’s quicker and a little rascal,” Bruna explained.

The idea came about because Eros’s seizures had become more frequent due to rising temperatures in the region. Also, due to his anxiety, certain situations can trigger seizures, and the heat may be one of them.

“So, to improve their comfort and try to ease their pain, I had the AC installed,” she declared.

They hang out comfortably in their kennel, enjoying the fresh air. Now that’s the good life, huh? Eros and Pandora totally deserve it!

Video’s Repercussion

The post has already garnered over 332,000 views, 19,000 reactions, and thousands of comments.

“I love seeing people treating animals with so much care,” commented one user.
“Congratulations on treating your fur babies with so much love,” said another.
“So fancyyyyy”, declared a third.

How to Keep Your Dog Cool During the Summer

To help your dog cool off in the summer heat and make them comfortable and safe, here are some tips:

  1. Fresh Water: Make sure your dog always has access to fresh, clean water. In the heat, they can easily become dehydrated.

  2. Shade: Provide a shaded area where your dog can escape the scorching sun. If outdoors, make sure there is a cool, shady spot.

  3. Walks: Avoid walking your dog during the hottest hours of the day. Choose morning or evening walks instead.

  4. Paws: Check the ground temperature before walking your dog. If it’s too hot, it could burn their sensitive paw pads.

  5. Ventilation: If your dog is in an enclosed area, make sure there’s good airflow or even an AC.

  6. Baths: Bathe your dog more frequently using lukewarm water. Avoid cold water, as it may cause thermal shock.

  7. Grooming: Keep your dog’s fur trimmed, but don’t cut it too short, as they can get sunburned.

  8. Moderate Activity: Reduce the intensity of exercise on hot days. Excessive heat can be dangerous.

  9. Never Leave Them in the Car: Never leave your dog inside a parked car, even for a few minutes. The temperature can rise quickly and cause heatstroke.

  10. Water Play: If your dog enjoys water, playing in a pool or with a hose can be a great way to cool off.
